Mykhailo Mudryk cleared for immediate return after resolving anti-doping case

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is cleared to resume his professional football career with immediate effect. The Ukrainian international successfully resolved his anti-doping disciplinary proceedings with the Football Association following a lengthy legal appeal.

The 25-year-old winger received a provisional suspension in late 2024 after testing positive for prohibited substance meldonium. Although initially handed a four-year ban, Mudryk appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).

Recent updates to WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) testing technical guidelines revealed his sample contained extremely low meldonium concentrations. Under current standards, no adverse finding would be reported, allowing all parties to agree on time served.

“As I have always maintained from the outset of this case, I have never knowingly or intentionally taken any banned substance,” Mudryk said.

Meanwhile, Chelsea expressed complete satisfaction with the legal resolution and confirmed Mudryk will join their upcoming pre-season tour. The London club maintained consistent backing for their player throughout the confidential legal process.

During his suspension, Mudryk was banned from club facilities, forcing him to hire private coaches and goalkeepers. He maintained high physical fitness by utilising non-league pitches and hosting an intense private training camp in Austria.
