Tolu Arokodare has urged football authorities to confront online racism with decisive punishment. The striker received abusive messages following Wolves’ narrow defeat to Crystal Palace.
Wolves slipped to a 1-0 loss at Selhurst Park on Sunday after Arokodare missed a penalty during the tense encounter.
Soon after, the Nigerian forward and the club shared screenshots of hateful messages. The abuse included racist slurs and deeply offensive language.
The 25-year-old refused to stay silent. Instead, he demanded firm consequences for those responsible.
“We have to take action” — A call for accountability
“It’s still unbelievable to me that we’re playing in a time where people have so much freedom to communicate such racism without any consequences,” Arokodare wrote.
“These individuals should have no place in our game and collectively we have to take action to punish everyone who taints the sport like this, no matter who they are.”
