ā€œLet us remember the sacrifices of these gallant men and women who laid down their lives so that we may live in peace and harmony. We, therefore, have a duty to show our appreciation by contributing generously towards the upkeep of their families,ā€ he said.

The governor added that such support ensures that their sacrifices are not forgotten, while encouraging current service members to remain courageous, knowing their efforts are valued.

AbdulRazaq also tasked Local government authorities in Kwara to galvanize grassroots support for the Nigerian Legion’s initiatives, urging broader citizen involvement in the welfare of veterans and their families.

The event drew participation from top government officials, military commanders, members of the Nigerian Legion, and other dignitaries.

Commissioner for Social Development, Olaitan Abosede Buraimoh, described the launch of the Emblem Appeal Fund as a symbol of love and appreciation for the military’s dedication to national security.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in Kwara, Retired Brig.-Gen. Abdulkadir Anigiobi, praised the governor for being the first state leader to attend the event and extend significant financial support.

ā€œIt was a great opportunity for us to see you as the first Executive Governor of the state to attend our launching and donate to us,ā€ Anigiobi said.

He also appealed for sustained government support, including empowerment initiatives for Legion members.
