Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq met with community leaders and stakeholders from Ifelodun Local Government Area on Monday to discuss ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance security in the region.

The meeting, which included former and current public officials, monarchs, clerics, and youth leaders, was led by the council’s chairman, Hadji Femi Yusuf.

During the discussion, AbdulRazaq detailed his administration’s collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other security agencies to address threats in Ifelodun, Patigi, and Edu.

He urged residents to avoid exaggerating security issues, warning that it could negatively affect investment and development.

“I want to advise that investments may be affected if we don’t strike a balance in how we project our communities to the outside world,” he said.

The governor also highlighted several infrastructure projects in Ifelodun, which are either underway or in the planning stages.

These include roads such as the Ajase-Ipo-Oke Ode-Sagbe Road, Alabe-Oreke Road, and Oro Ago Road.

He mentioned that the Ora township road would be re-awarded and that the government is also focused on the Orisa and Akamo bridges, as well as spot rehabilitation of the Share-Babanla road.

AbdulRazaq praised local community-led initiatives, citing the ICT Centre in Igbaja as a positive example.

In their response, the Ifelodun stakeholders commended the governor for his proactive approach to security and his commitment to development in the area.

They specifically praised the ongoing Ajase to Sagbe road project and other interventions, stating that these efforts have boosted public confidence in his administration.

Former House of Representatives member Alhaji Kola Yusuf and Elder Oyin Zubair expressed their gratitude for the visible progress and urged the government to support those affected by recent incidents.

They also voiced confidence that the recent deployment of security forces would lead to lasting peace.
