Equatorial Guinea handed Algeria their first defeat since 2018 after a 1-0 win in their Group E game of the African Cup of Nations.
The defeat ends Algeria’s 35 matches unbeaten run, putting them on the brink of elimination.

Algeria now need to defeat the Ivory Coast in their last Group game to have any chance of qualifying for the next round.

As it stands, Ivory Coast, held to a draw by Sierra Leone is topping the group with four points. Equatorial Guinea courtesy of their win are second in the group, followed by Sierra Leone.
Algeria, the defending champions are rooted to the bottom with a single point garnered from the goalless draw against Sierra Leone in their opening game.
