On Sunday, February 11, 2024, either Super Eagles of Nigeria or Bafana Bafana of South Africa will be in the final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast.
The bout isn’t about just football; South Africans and Nigeria argue about who has better music; lifestyle, fashion sense, business acumen, etc. the feud most times is political and doesn’t end on mere Twitter banter. There is everything to fight for on Wednesday night, simply put, this is a grudge match.
The last time the Super Eagles of Nigeria met South Africa in a AFCON tournament, they emerged 4-0 winners at the 2004 contest in Tunisia. Prior to then, Eagles defeated the 1996 champions 2-0 in their semifinals clash in 2000.

Times have changed and both teams are easily on top of their respective games.
For Nigeria, they have kept four clean sheets in five matches, courtesy of goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s firmness and composure.
As for Bafana Bafana, Captain Ronwen Williams saved four shootout penalties as part of an outstanding goalkeeping display to help South Africa reach the semi-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with a grueling win over Cape Verde following a goalless draw after extra time.
On Wednesday, News Round The Clock (NRTC) will be disclosing the team that will be heading to the final game in Abidjan to face winner of the semifinal clash between Ivory Coast and Democratic Republic Of Congo.
