Nigerian media personality Yhemo Lee has criticized Seun Kuti for his recent online remarks about Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Yhemo Lee in a post on his Instagram story questioned Seun’s approach, saying targeting Wizkid’s fans online is unnecessary since many of them have little or no knowledge of Fela.
He pointed out that Fela passed away 29 years ago and that many of today’s teenagers and young adults were either too young or not yet born when Fela was alive.
Yhemo Lee explained that some fans only know Fela through history or study, while many are more familiar with contemporary artistes like Wizkid.
He added that these fans cannot be expected to recall Fela’s era, making harsh confrontations unfair.
Yhemo Lee also criticized Seun for using social media to publicly address people he does not know, saying it has caused embarrassment for the Kuti family.
He described the actions as disrespectful to Fela’s legacy and warned that such public confrontations are unnecessary, especially when they involve people who admire modern artists instead.
