Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has authorized the payment of three months’ outstanding salary arrears for Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) workers.
In a statement, Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, confirmed that the arrears were disbursed to the workers on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
The Polytechnic’s Rector, Adegun Olorunwa, acknowledged the payment on Thursday, expressing gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise to address the persistent salary challenges at the institution.

The statement further highlighted the governor’s recent commitment to tackling the institution’s significant challenges.
During a recent encounter with thousands of students at the school gate in Owo en route to Ikare Akoko, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured them of his administration’s determination to address key issues, including salary arrears and staff entitlements.
Acknowledging the students’ enthusiastic reception and their calls for action, Governor Aiyedatiwa reiterated his awareness of the challenges confronting the institution, particularly regarding salary arrears and staff entitlements.

He directed the State’s Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele, to engage with the institution’s management to find sustainable solutions to these issues, which have threatened the academic calendar in recent years.
