We are still in awe of the reawakened fashion in the just-concluded Met Gala. Just before we can recover, the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) season is upon us. Nigerian fashion designers have decided to show their prowess and creativity through the various dresses and outfits they made for guests gracing the AMVCA 2024 red carpet.
Reviewing outfits that graced the red carpet met my amazement. There were a lot of outfits that highlighted creativity more than fashion. Not like creativity is not a factor in creating mind-blowing outfits but designers should forget the element of fashion. But regardless, kudos to the designers and stylists who took the time to style guests.
Here are our top preferred head-turning outfits for the 10th edition of AMVCA.
P.S. This is a ‘men mount o’ list. The men brought their A-game to this year’s AMVCA Award Night.
1. Chimozie Imo
Chimozie Imo’s suit is no regular red colored suit. The raindrop-like pearls on it elevated the suit from regular to dope. While everything else in this outfit might be regular, the jacket is all for us. It is an A-rated and classic outfit by Segun Jimoh (jimohsempire). The bootcut trousers look dapper on the Oxford-like shoes. The lead actor for ‘Breathe of Life’ has us doping our hats for his outfit.
2. Saga Adeolu
The former BBN housemate is a fashion enthusiast who never disappoints with his outfits. Unlike the popular belief that pink is for the feminine gender alone, Saga in this pink double-armed suit proves us to scrap that notion. The pocket-armed suit styled by Ladelmen is an unpopular style we want to see more of. According to Saga’s Instagram post, his outfit seems to be inspired by the Barbie character, Ken.
3. Yvonne Jegede
This dress is totally in theme with the just concluded Met Gala but for the AMVCA 10 Awards’ Night is ace. Yvonne Jegede bodies this dress with the aura she ought to. Under white see-through lace is a nude corset gown that hugs Yvonne’s curves diligently. The asymmetric design of the gown is simple and not overbearing. The little 3D flower scepter the dress is carrying takes the dress to another level. The designer of this dress is the Ericamoorebrand.
4. Iyabo Ojo
We thought Iyabo Ojop was taking AMCVA 10 with subtlety until she proved us wrong with her Awards Night outfit. Mubrik Luxury did a good job in styling this outfit. But one observation about this outfit is that the flaps at the waist side can be removed. It does not do justice to the totality of the outfit. It might still go well if it was less bulgy than it appears here. Regardless, this dress is one of our preferred picks.

5. Stan Nze
Stan Nze juggles our memory of the Bad Bunny’s first look at the Met Gala. The Nollywood is our Bad Bunny of the AMVCA 10. He took the black and white suit to the next level with this P.ARIES outfit. The pearls embedded in the lapels, canvas, ends of the jacket, and waist cost give the cowboy vibes. The shoes are just the perfect match for the outfit.
6. Tacha
Tacha wore the design of the king of the corsets in Nigeria, Abbas Woman with grace. Everything about the dress is spectacular except the hanging corset costume at her shoulder. It looks extra and out of shape because it dangles and seems too overbearing. But regardless of that,the design of the bodice of the dress is exceptional. Her purse screams corset too!
7. Uche Montana
Vekee James is responsible for the artistry of Uche Montana’s AMVCA outfit. Seeing this outfit, one would think about a welling-up volcano with extravagant flair. The feathery hem of the dress gives that Christmas vibe but the outfit is a beauty and a sensation all at once. Just like the love shape of the shoulder part of the outfit, we love this dress.
8. Nana Akua Addo
Nana’s dress is everything creativity combined with artistry moderated with elegance. Her dress is one of the most inspiring 3D you would come across today. It is all art blended with an informed fashion sense. Everything about this look is elegance!
Fashion taste happens to be relative. As much as we have curated our list, we do believe that there are lovely designs that graced the AMVCA red carpet that would stun you. For now, fashionistas, soak up yourself in the amazing designs creatives have created for AMVCA 10.
