‘Any perceived offence by Victor Osimhen was not intended’ – Napoli respond to controversial TikTok video


Serie A champions Napoli have finally reacted to the now-deleted controversial TikTok video aimed at trolling striker Victor Osimhen.

At the start of the week, a video released on Napoli’s official TikTok page caused stir due to its trolling and ‘mockery’ of Super Eagles striker Osimhen.

In response to the unpleasant video, as perceived, Osimhen erased every Napoli-related posts on his Instagram page.

Also, the 24-year-old’s agent, Roberto Calenda threatened legal action against the club following the incident.

In an official response, Napoli described Osimhen as a “treasure.” The club added that any perceived offence towards Osimhen was not an intention of the club.

The statement reads: “Calcio Napoli, wishing to avoid any exploitation of the issue, point out that we never wanted to offend or mock Victor Osimhen, who is a treasure of this club”.

“As proof of that, during the summer training retreat, the Club firmly rebuffed every offer that was received for the striker’s transfer abroad”.

“Social media, in particular TikTok, has always used an expressive form of language with a light heart and creativity, without wanting to, as in the case with Osimhen as protagonist, have any intention of insult or derision”.

“In any case, if Victor perceived any offence towards him, this was not what the club intended”.
