The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), comprising governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), held a crucial meeting in Lagos State.

During the meeting, they unanimously passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and expressed full support for his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The forum also endorsed the President’s re-election in 2027.

In a communique read by Uzodimma, the PGF commended Tinubu for his “steadfast commitment to stabilising the economy, strengthening national security and laying the foundations of sustainable growth.”

Recognising the “temporary burdens that accompany necessary macroeconomic reforms” and the resulting cost-of-living pressures, the governors acknowledged the resilience and patience of Nigerians.

The forum resolved to intensify state-level interventions in key areas to mitigate the hardship: food production and distribution, support to small and medium-scale enterprises, youth employment and social protection for the poorest and most vulnerable.

The PGF pledged to align state policies with federal reforms and committed to working closely with federal institutions, the National Economic Council, and Local Governments to ensure that the gains of reforms “translate into visible improvements in the quality of life of the people.”

Reviewing the nationwide security situation, the governors commended the improved coordination among federal, state, and local security structures and praised the courage of security agencies.

The forum resolved to strengthen local security architecture by continuing to bolster, community-based security initiatives, intelligence gathering, conflict-prevention mechanisms and support for victims of violence and disaster.

The PGF underscored the importance of social cohesion, inter-faith harmony, and inter-ethnic understanding, urging all leaders to use their platforms to promote unity and isolate criminality and hate speech.

They reaffirmed that the safety of lives and property remains a “non-negotiable obligation” of the government.

The governors reiterated that effective local governance is central to delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots.
