The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denounced Tanimu Turaki, the newly appointed factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for urging foreign powers to intervene in Nigeria’s internal affairs.
In a press statement on Tuesday APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka criticised Turaki’s appeal for external involvement, which he claimed was intended to protect democracy and prevent alleged Christian genocide.
Describing the call as “reckless and unpatriotic,” Morka warned that such statements pose a serious threat to Nigeria’s security and sovereignty.
He expressed disappointment that Turaki’s first official action, barely 72 hours after being declared chairman by a faction of the fractured PDP, was not aimed at fostering peace within his party.
“Nigerians expected Turaki to embark on an urgent peace-building mission to reconcile the warring factions of his party,” Morka said.
“Instead, his inaugural act as factional chairman was to call for foreign intervention in Nigeria to address the PDP’s self-inflicted internal crisis.”

Morka dismissed the PDP leader’s move as a clear admission of the opposition party’s inability to manage its internal divisions, calling it the final certification of the PDP’s demise.
He contrasted this with the PDP’s 16 years in power, noting that there was never a call for foreign intervention to resolve internal party disputes during that period.
Morka urged the international community to disregard the PDP’s call as a “pitiful distraction” from its internal democratic failures.
He reaffirming the APC’s commitment to the visionary leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the ongoing mission to build national progress and prosperity.
