Apple unveils iPhone 17 lineup with major changes

Apple revealed the iPhone 17 series at its Sept. 9 event, introducing slimmer designs, camera upgrades, and iOS 26 with a refreshed interface.

The new range includes the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the debut iPhone 17 Air, which replaces the Plus model with a thinner 6.6-inch design. Bloomberg reports Apple calls this lineup its most ambitious yet.

Notable upgrades include 24MP front cameras, 120Hz displays across all models, and new rear camera layouts. The Pro Max may rebrand as Ultra and feature three 48MP lenses with periscope zoom.

Apple is also shifting designs, with rectangular camera bumps, new color options, and possibly aluminum or titanium frames. The 17 Air risks reduced durability and a smaller 3,149mAh battery, though Apple may reintroduce MagSafe packs to offset this.

Under the hood, all models ship with the A19 chip and iOS 26. The software adds a “Liquid Glass” theme, a dedicated Games app, and expanded spam-blocking tools.

Battery sizes increase for the Pro models, with the Pro Max reaching 5,088mAh—the largest ever in an iPhone. Faster 35W charging and reverse wireless charging could also debut.

Pricing starts at $799 for the iPhone 17, $899 for the 17 Air, $1,099 for the Pro, and $1,299 for the Pro Max. Preorders open Sept. 12, with launch on Sept. 19.
