Arise TV has confirmed the death of its anchor, reporter and producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Maduagwu, 29, popularly known as Sommie, was attacked in the early hours of the morning in an incident now under investigation by the Nigeria Police.

Arise TV described her as more than a colleague, highlighting her energy, professionalism, and ability to connect with viewers.

Outside broadcasting, she was a trained lawyer, remembered as a dedicated and supportive colleague.

Her death has left the station in shock. Management extended condolences to her parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and loved ones.

“We call for a speedy investigation, apprehension and prosecution of the culprits,” Arise TV said.

The station added that her voice may be silent, but her passion and legacy will endure in its collective memory.
