The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has welcomed the peace agreement reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as a milestone for stability in the Middle East.
In a statement issued by the AU’s Information and Communication Directorate, Youssouf said, “This agreement underscores the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation in achieving lasting peace and stability”.
He noted that the agreement demonstrates the value of constructive engagement in promoting peace and mutual respect among nations.

The AU Commission acknowledged the roles played by President Donald J. Trump, as well as Pakistan, Oman, and Qatar, in facilitating the accord.

Youssouf commended their contributions, stressing that collaborative efforts highlight the necessity of multilateral approaches to conflict resolution.
