Armed bandits have kidnapped a 16-year-old boy and six girls from Gidan-Bijimi community in Kawu Ward, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The incident occurred at about 9:47 p.m. on Wednesday when the attackers, wielding AK-47 rifles, invaded the village. Gidan-Bijimi lies close to the FCT’s boundary with Kaduna State, an area that has witnessed repeated security breaches.

The attack comes just days after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike ordered tighter border security and launched “Operation Sweep,” a security initiative aimed at combating banditry around Abuja’s outskirts.
Despite the renewed security measures, Wednesday’s incident has heightened concerns about the growing threat of armed groups around the nation’s capital.
Many residents have expressed fear that Abuja is becoming increasingly unsafe.
