Boniface, Osimhen, 23 others in Super Eagles squad to face Saudi Arabia, Mozambique

Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro has invited 25 players ahead of this month’s international friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal, NRTC reports.

Recalled to the squad are Alex Iwobi, Kenneth Omeruo, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Terem Moffi. The quartet were absent during the Super Eagles’ destruction of Sao Tome and Principe in last month’s 2023 AFCON qualifier in Uyo.

The likes of Moses Simon, Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi and Kelechi Iheanacho, who are regular ‘suspects’, have also been invited.

Nigeria will trade tackles with the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia in Portimão, Portugal on Friday, 13th October 2023. Three days later, Peseiro’s men will then face the Mambas of Mozambique in the same city.

All invited players are expected to arrive Faro, Portugal by Tuesday, 10th October.

Both games will serve as tune-up matches for Nigeria ahead of the commencement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. During the World Cup qualifiers, the Super Eagles will host Lesotho’s Crocodiles in Uyo on 17th November. The team will also travel to play Zimbabwe four days later.
