Manchester United have seen an improved £62.5 million offer for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo rejected, as the Red Devils intensify efforts to bolster their attacking options.
The bid included £55 million upfront and £7.5 million in add-ons. However, this offer failed to convince Brentford to part with their prized asset.
Earlier this month, United’s opening offer of £45 million plus £10 million in variables was also turned down. Despite revising their proposal, Brentford are holding firm, reportedly seeking at least the same fee Wolves received for Matheus Cunha — another forward United secured for £62.5 million — paid in full, not in stages.

Mbeumo’s value continues to rise following a sensational 2024/25 campaign, where he netted a personal best of 20 goals and supplied nine assists. His contract runs for another year, yet Brentford appear in no rush to sell, especially with interest growing across Europe.

New Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, who coached Mbeumo during his time at Brentford, is keen on a reunion, while other Champions League outfits are also monitoring the situation.
AFCON duty and growing interest could complicate Mbeumo’s transfer timeline
Nevertheless, United remain focused on adding firepower to their squad. Having already landed Cunha, they are pushing hard for Mbeumo, whose versatility, pace, and finishing make him a desirable fit. Still, any deal would need to consider his potential absence in January, with Mbeumo expected to feature for Cameroon at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The tournament, which kicks off in late December, will likely rule Mbeumo out of club action for at least four weeks. Cameroon are set to begin their AFCON campaign against Gabon on 24 December — a timing that could impact final negotiations.
Since joining Brentford from French club Troyes in 2019, Mbeumo has racked up 70 goals in 242 appearances, playing a key role in the Bees’ rise to the Premier League. While United’s interest is strong, the race for his signature is heating up — and Brentford are making it clear they won’t sell on the cheap.
