Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has become the African artist with the highest number of entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart, surpassing fellow Nigerian star Tems.
Before now, both artists were tied with eight entries each. However, Burna Boy moved ahead after earning a new spot on the chart through his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira on the official World Cup song, Dai Dai.
The track debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, raising Burna Boy’s total number of entries to nine, the highest ever recorded by an African artist.

Dai Dai received a major boost following a live performance by Burna Boy and Shakira during the World Cup opening ceremony, helping the song gain wider attention.

The achievement also extends Burna Boy’s record as the first African artist to place at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive years.
His Billboard Hot 100 entries include Loved By You (2021), Last Last (2022), Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II (2023), Just Like Me and We Pray (2024), WGFT (2025), as well as Only You and Dai Dai (2026).
