President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe, will visit Dakar on Wednesday, April 8, for talks with Senegal’s leaders and football officials.
The trip follows the Appeal Board’s decision to strip Senegal of the AFCON 2025 title and award Morocco a 3–0 walkover victory.
According to a statement on the CAF website on Tuesday, “The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe will visit Senegal on Wednesday and meet Senegalese Head of State HE Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Fédération Sénégalaise de Football, Mr Abdoulaye Fall.”

The statement further noted, “CAF and Fédération Sénégalaise de Football will provide more information on the details of the visit in due course.”
The ruling has already triggered an appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Officials say CAS rulings can take months unless all parties agree to an expedited process.

CAF sanctioned both Senegal and Morocco for disturbances during the tournament. Morocco’s appeal led to Senegal losing the title, while Morocco was awarded a 3–0 victory.
CAF rejected demands to rescind medals, trophies, and the $10 million prize money.
Motsepe’s visit underscores CAF’s effort to ease tensions and maintain dialogue as African football faces one of its most contentious disciplinary disputes in recent years.
