Canada returnee jailed for assaulting Lagos KAI officer

A 52-year-old man who recently returned from Canada has been sentenced to three months in prison after attacking an official of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, commonly known as KAI.

The incident happened in Ojota, Lagos, when the man, identified as Morufudeen Idowu, tried to cross the expressway illegally.

A KAI officer approached him to stop the unlawful act, which goes against Lagos State’s rules requiring pedestrians to use footbridges.

Instead of complying, Idowu became aggressive and physically attacked the officer.

He was arrested and taken to the Magistrate Court in Oshodi, where he was found guilty and sentenced to jail.

Lagos authorities have continued to warn residents against crossing expressways directly, stressing the importance of using pedestrian bridges to avoid accidents and maintain order.
