Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan secured the bronze medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Thursday, bringing her reign as Commonwealth champion to an end.
The 29-year-old, who won successive gold medals at the Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Games, was chasing history as she sought to become the first woman to claim three consecutive Commonwealth titles in the event.
Amusan finished third in the final after clocking 12.60 seconds.
The Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton stormed to the gold medal in a time of 12.33 seconds, while Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds took silver with a season-best 12.41 seconds.

Earlier in the day, Amusan had looked on course to defend her title after producing a commanding display in the heats, winning her race in a wind-assisted 12.19 seconds.
Although the time was ineligible for record purposes because of excessive wind assistance, it was the fastest performance ever recorded in the history of the Commonwealth Games under any conditions.
However, the Nigerian was unable to reproduce that form in the final, as Charlton and Simmonds finished ahead of her.
Despite missing out on a historic third successive Commonwealth Games gold medal, Amusan maintained her impressive consistency by reaching the podium for the third consecutive edition of the Games in the women’s 100m hurdles.
