Comptroller Wale Adenuga has assumed his role as the new Customs Area Controller of the Seme Area Command, vowing to implement an open-door policy to improve cross-border trade.
During the handover ceremony during the week at the Seme–Krake Joint Border Post, Adenuga stated his commitment to an inclusive leadership approach that will build on the command’s successes and enhance its role in facilitating regional trade.
“My goal is to work with all stakeholders and sister security agencies to make the Seme border the best in West Africa and a source of pride for everyone,” said Adenuga.

He thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, for the opportunity and assured that the Seme command will remain a seamless trade hub for compliant stakeholders.
Outgoing Customs Area Controller Ben Oramalugo, who has been promoted to Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG), reflected on his tenure with “mixed emotions.”
He highlighted the successes achieved by his team, including a significant number of seizures of prohibited goods to protect the nation’s economy and improved revenue collections.
Oramalugo also noted the strengthened relationships with host communities and other security agencies, as well as the focus on professional development for officers.

Oramalugo urged officers and stakeholders to offer even greater support to his successor, emphasising that the mission of the Service should always come before personal interests.
Stakeholders and community representatives were also present, who praised ACG Oramalugo’s leadership and expressed their confidence in Comptroller Adenuga’s ability to continue the command’s positive momentum.
