A legal battle instituted by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reached its final deliberative stage, with the court reserving its judgment for a future date.
The suit seeks a judicial order compelling INEC to formally recognise the Interim National Working Committee (NWC), which was established by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

During the court session, legal counsels representing all involved parties adopted their respective written processes and arguments.
Following these submissions, the presiding judge adjourned the matter, stating that the date for the final ruling will be officially communicated to all parties involved.

In a parallel development, the leadership of the main opposition party has actively dismissed widespread speculation regarding a major internal revolt among its electoral candidates.
Rumours circulating across various political circles suggested that multiple PDP candidates were preparing to launch coordinated legal challenges against the party’s leadership hierarchy, which is currently headed by the National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki.
Reacting to the claims, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP Interim National Working Committee, issued a strong disclaimer labelling the reports as entirely fabricated and malicious.
Ememobong emphasised that the leadership has not received any formal complaints or legal threats from any party flagbearer.
According to the party’s statement, all candidates remain aligned with the central executive block, maintaining regular communications and receiving routine briefings on ongoing political and administrative developments.

The PDP leadership urged members of the public, journalists, and media organisations to verify information through official party communication channels, attributing the rumours to external political detractors attempting to manipulate public perception and generate artificial instability within the party structure.
