The Nigeria Customs Service has alerted the public to fake appointment letters being circulated online, warning that it is not issuing any at this stage of its recruitment exercise.
In a statement released Friday on its official X account, the Service clarified that the recruitment process remains at the examination stage and no successful candidates have been announced.
“The Nigeria Customs Service is not issuing appointment letters at this stage of its recruitment exercise. Appointment letters circulating online are FAKE and should be disregarded,” the statement read.
The NCS explained that candidates in the Superintendent Cadre recently completed their computer-based tests across the six geopolitical zones, while the Inspector and Customs Assistant Cadres have also concluded theirs.

The agency described the fake letters as another attempt by fraudsters to deceive unsuspecting applicants, urging the public to rely only on verified updates from its official communication channels.
Customs restated that its recruitment process is transparent, free, and merit-based.
The Service had earlier announced the commencement of its 2025 recruitment in December 2024 to fill 3,927 vacancies across three cadres: Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant.
Over 573,000 applications were received during the exercise, which aims to enhance trade facilitation and support economic growth.
