Jurgen Klopp, the normal one bids Liverpool farewell in rather emotional fashion in a fully stacked Anfield.
The slowly anticipated end to Jurgen Klopp’s time has now dawned. The German gaffer departs after nine years at the helm in Merseyside.
In a rather emotional day for fans of the club, the Klopp era has sadly concluded.
The German arrived back in 2015 with the club in a period of lows. Klopp’s tenure has been one that has reignited the flames of hope amongst the Kop.
He ended the club’s 30-year wait for a Premier League trophy and also taking them to successive UEFA champions League finals in 2018 and 2019.
His almost decade long stint was accompanied by seven trophies inclusive of the premier league, champions league, FA and Carabao cups as well as the the UEFA Super Cup and Club world cup.
Klopp’s emotional farewell was one that received attention across the footballing world. Tributes and high praises from players, colleagues and even veterans of the games.

Klopp’s time at Liverpool saw him give opportunities to many youngsters and academy graduates one of which is current club vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold. Under Klopp, he’s gone from just another academy lad to one of the world’s most highly rated full backs.
Trent Alexander Arnold reiterated the German’s departure would be a hard pill to swallow.
“It’s going to be a hard transition for us as players. It’s an emotional one. Also, it’s going to be very difficult to say goodbye. It’s one that I’ll never be ready to do, to be honest. The only thing I can really say to him is thank you.”
The post-match scenes followed a guard of honour for himself and the departing members of his backroom staff. Speaking on his departure, Klopp commented.
“I love them all, everything about the club, but it’s time for me to go. It’s not burning behind me, so that gives me a good feeling. I know I’ll come back, I’m a Liverpool supporter and I love that”
“I don’t think it’s normal. I knew for a long time our relationship was pretty special. Additionally, I really think the people make the difference for his club. These people are the superpower of this club, will push them through difficult moments”
A lovely scene from the farewell campaign saw the departing manager announce Arne Slot’s impending arrival by replacing his name from the famous lyrics sung for him by the Liverpool faithful with the Dutchman’s.
Slot, who earlier bade his own good-byes to Feyenoord Rotterdam will take over the Liverpool job in 2024/2025 as Klopp’s successor.
