The National Football League (NFL) has pledged a $100,000 donation to support Kai Cenat’s school project in Makoko, Lagos, a community known for its floating structures and stilted homes.

This generous contribution followed a charity showdown in New Orleans, where Kai Cenat and fellow creator IShowSpeed took part in an event before Super Bowl LIX. Despite IShowSpeed’s team clinching a 30-29 victory, the NFL announced a total $200,000 donation to both creators’ foundations.

A now-viral video captured the moment when the NFL commended their efforts. “On behalf of the NFL Foundation and the League Inspire Change Campaign, we are happy to present $200,000 in donations,” the announcer declared.

The funds were split equally: $100,000 went to Speed’s foundation, benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, while the other half supported Kai Cenat’s initiative in Nigeria. The league praised them for their dedication, stating, “Amazing work by you both, supporting opportunities for deserving youths.”

Kai Cenat committed to school project

Cenat, a renowned YouTuber and streamer, first visited Makoko in 2024, laying the groundwork for his ambitious school project. He has since been actively involved in its progress.

“The process of me building this new school in Nigeria has officially been stamped today. It’s a go go,” Cenat confirmed.

He emphasised his vision for the school, stating, “So this new school in Makoko is for the kids that are living in Makoko, Nigeria. I have started working on the school.”

To ensure quality, Cenat called for skilled workers to contribute, adding, “And right now if you are in Nigeria and you know the best people that could get the paint job good, get the right equipment they need, and are willing to get their hands dirty for the right amount of money to get paid, let me know.”

As construction progressed, Cenat revealed his team was working hard to clear out the site, promising to document the entire journey. “They are working very hard right now, removing what got to be removed to get the school ready. I think I will be documenting this and I think I am going to make this into a video.”

Long before the NFL’s donation for the Makoko project, Cenat had personally contributed $3,000. This is to kick-start the project, proving his commitment to improving education in Makoko.
