President Bola Tinubu is set to address Nigerians on Friday in a nationwide broadcast marking Democracy Day.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the presidential speech will be transmitted via the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) network at 7:00 a.m. All television stations across the country have been directed to connect to the NTA feed to ensure simultaneous coverage.
“The speech is scheduled to air on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) network at 7:00 a.m.
“All television stations are requested to hook onto the NTA network to carry the broadcast,” the statement signed late Thursday read.

The Democracy Day celebration falls on Friday, June 12, marking 33 years since the June 12, 1993 presidential election won by the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. The poll was annulled by the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida, a development that sparked a long pro-democracy movement that later shaped Nigeria’s return to civilian rule.

In 2018, former President Muhammadu Buhari officially declared June 12 as Democracy Day, replacing May 29 as the country’s national day for democratic celebration.
Friday’s nationwide address will be Tinubu’s fourth Democracy Day speech since assuming office in May 2023.
