Diri to distribute starter packs, business certifications to Bayelsa entrepreneurs

The governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, is set to present professional business certifications and operational starter packs to citizens who completed their training under the state’s vocational scheme.

The presentation ceremony, which is scheduled June 26, 2026, forms part of the administration’s broader economic initiative to foster self-reliance and build a sustainable local economy.

The upcoming event, tagged the “Douye Diri Skills Entrepreneurs’ Certification and Empowerment Ceremony 2026,” is framed around the theme: “Building an Entrepreneurial Bayelsa: From Skills Acquisition to Certification, Innovation, and Sustainable Wealth Creation.”

According to a statement from Charity Godwin, the Technical Adviser to the governor on Entrepreneurship Development and Director-General of the program, the initiative reflects the government’s focus on advancing human capital and stimulating economic growth from the grassroots.

The Director-General noted that the trainees will be given professional certifications along with toolkits and starter packs.

These resources are intended to directly strengthen their new enterprises, scale their operations, and reduce reliance on white-collar employment.

“Beneficiaries, who were trained under the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme, will receive professional business certification and starter packs to strengthen their enterprises and promote self-reliance,” Godwin stated.

The empowerment event is slated to begin at 10:00 am at the Banquet Hall, inside the Government House in Yenagoa.

The administration expects a diverse gathering of dignitaries to witness the distribution, including regional entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, top government functionaries, traditional rulers, and international development partners.

Godwin extended a warm invitation to the general public to attend the historic gathering.

She reiterated that Diri’s administration remains firm in its stance to continuously roll out strategic opportunities that drive innovation, commercial enterprise, and long-term economic prosperity across all communities in Bayelsa State.
