A truck driver was injured on Saturday after losing control of his fully-laden vehicle, which plunged off the Pen Cinema Bridge onto two stationary commercial buses beneath.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement, identifying the truck by its registration number, GGE 624 YJ.
The accident occurred along Agege, Old Abeokuta Road, causing significant disruption in the area.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the driver, who sustained severe fractures to both hands, lost control while navigating the bridge.

LASTMA officers, responding swiftly, rescued the trapped driver and handed him over to officers from the Elere Police Division. He was later taken to the General Hospital in Ile-Epo for urgent medical treatment.
To prevent further accidents and ensure public safety, LASTMA personnel cordoned off the scene and diverted traffic, while operatives from the LASEMA Response Unit cleared the wreckage, restoring normal traffic flow.
Expressing concern over the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged all motorists, especially truck drivers, to exercise greater caution, particularly with the onset of the rainy season.
He stressed the importance of adhering to road safety regulations, including compliance with speed-limiting devices recently installed to curb road accidents.
Bakare-Oki also extended his best wishes for the injured driver’s speedy recovery.
