Netflix releases an exhilarating trailer for House of Ga’a
The motif of adapting Yoruba history into movies seems to be the trend these days. Only we can tell our story the right way. It is up to Nollywood to curate our stories the right way and they have been doing quite a good job with that.
Just last week, Netflix relased an exhilarating trailer for the anticipated historical movie, House of Ga’a. I literally got goose bumps watching the movie trailer. Sincerely, it was indeed a head-swell moment for me. I remember listening to my History teacher in secondary school talk about Bashorun Ga’a. Then, I had to feed myself with imaginative visuals. Now, we’ve got a movie on it! This Bolanle-Austen-Peters directed movie is set to be released on the Netflix streaming platform on July 26.
The movie is a star-studded movie that has actors from the three major cultural groups in Nigeria to act roles in the movie. This movie is actually a project that appreciated the unison in the Nigerian movie industry.
The movie features Femi Branch, Mike Afolarin, Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham among others.
Tunde Onakoya gets the Trendupp Awards, Force of social good for the second time
The founder of Chess in Slums gets the award for the Force of Social good in the last concluded Trendupp Awards. The award is well-deserving of him. For a while now, Tunde Onakoya has been raising awareness for the game chess to raise funds for less privileged children.
Through chess, he has uplifted quite a number of children from the slums. Sometimes in May, he competed for the longest hours playing chess in the New York’s Time Square in a bid to raise funds for less privileged chess. Through chess, Tunde Onakoya has been in top places of the world. The philanthropist shared the hood news of his award on his Instagram page.
