Enugu Police vows to end criminal activities

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, has declared a zero-tolerance policy for criminal elements in the state, promising that there will be “no hiding place” for offenders.

The announcement was made during the Command’s monthly Strategic Policing Conference, where he also decorated 28 newly promoted officers.

Giwa used the conference to charge senior officers, including Deputy and Assistant Commissioners, Divisional Police Officers, and other tactical squad heads, to be more vigilant and dedicated to their supervisory duties.

He emphasised the need for a collective commitment to rid the state of crime and urged them to begin implementing proactive strategies for the upcoming “Ember Months,” a period typically associated with a rise in criminal activity.

He warned that any negligence or unprofessional conduct would result in sanctions.A key part of the event was the promotion ceremony for 28 officers.

Among those elevated was David Adio Alalade, who was promoted from Assistant Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner of Police and now heads the Command’s Department of Finance and Administration.

Other notable promotions included Bonny Odufu, who rose from Superintendent of Police to Chief Superintendent of Police, and 22 others who were promoted from Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police.

While congratulating the officers, CP Giwa reminded them that the promotion is a call to higher responsibility, emphasising the importance of discipline, leadership, and accountability in their new roles.

Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, Deputy Commissioner Alalade expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission and pledged their renewed commitment to serving with integrity under the Commissioner’s leadership.
