The family of late veteran Nollywood actor Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has fixed October 2, 2026, for his funeral.
Jacobs died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84, after a career that lasted more than five decades in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
According to the funeral arrangements released by the family, a Night of Tributes will be held on Wednesday, September 30, ahead of the burial ceremony.
The tribute event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at Glover Memorial Hall on Marina Road, Lagos Island. Mourners attending the ceremony are expected to wear shades of blue.
The main funeral service will take place on Friday, October 2, at 10 a.m. at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. Guests attending the funeral have been asked to wear shades of green.

Jacobs’ widow and fellow veteran actress, Joke Silva, has also extended an invitation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to attend the funeral ceremonies.
Silva made the invitation in a letter dated September 23, 2026, while acknowledging the President’s condolence message following the actor’s death.
She also referred to the recognition given to Jacobs for his contribution to Nigeria’s creative sector.

The family is expected to use the ceremonies to celebrate Jacobs’ life and career while giving colleagues, friends, relatives and members of the public an opportunity to pay their final respects to the veteran actor.
Jacobs was one of the most recognised figures in Nigerian theatre, television and film. His career spanned several decades and included numerous stage, television and movie productions.
He also played a major role in the development of the Nigerian performing arts industry through the Lufodo Group and Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts, which he co-founded with Silva.
Throughout his career, Jacobs received several awards and honours for his contribution to the arts. Among them was the national honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR.
His death was announced by his family on September 16, with the family asking members of the public to respect their privacy during the mourning period.
