‎FG begins payment of BEA scholars’ 2025 allowances abroad

The Federal Government (FG) has started disbursing outstanding 2025 allowances to Nigerian students studying abroad under the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Programme. 

According to the Federal Ministry of Education, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has remitted approved funds to Nigerian embassies and missions for onward payment to eligible scholars. 

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, explained that the released funds cover 50 percent of the outstanding obligations for 2025, while arrangements are being made to settle the balance.

He noted that the funds have already reached embassy accounts and that missions are expected to begin immediate disbursement. Scholars were advised to monitor their accounts as payments begin to reflect. 

“This development demonstrates the commitment of President Bola Tinubu, to the welfare and academic success of Nigerian students abroad under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Dr. Alausa said. 

The Ministry stressed that the move underscores government support for Nigerian scholars abroad and its focus on student welfare.
