The federal government (FG) on Thursday outlined the details of the 63-kilometer stretch of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project passing through Ondo State.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, announced in a statement that the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, shared the projectās specifications during a stakeholder town hall meeting held at the Government House in Akure.
During the meeting, Umahi emphasised the federal governmentās commitment to infrastructure as a pivotal national investment, noting that work would soon commence on the Ondo State segment of the coastal highway.
The minister commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his proactive efforts in advancing the project in Ondo State.
He stressed that the project is not politically motivated but rather intended to significantly enhance the socio-economic well-being of the regionās residents.

Umahi reiterated the administrationās dedication to close collaboration with Governor Aiyedatiwa, underscoring that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway represents President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of all Nigerians, beyond political affiliations.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the Minister for engaging with local stakeholders and highlighted the projectās transformative potential.
He explained that the extensive highway will link multiple states, bridging Nigeriaās western and southeastern regions, improving cross-country connectivity, and fostering stronger trade relations.
The governor assured stakeholders that the project would be closely monitored to ensure effective implementation and sustained progress, adding, āThis will not be one of those projects that get abandoned. This road will bring tremendous benefits to the people of Ondo State, and we are fully committed to partnering with the Federal Government to make it a reality.ā
Governor Aiyedatiwa also revealed that the state government is collaborating with the Federal Government on protection and restoration initiatives at Aiyetoro in Ilaje Local Government Area.
