FIFA may investigate South Africa for alleged ineligible player in qualifier

Recent reports indicate that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is urging FIFA to deduct three points from South Africa for allegedly fielding an ineligible player, Teboho Mokoena, during their World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.

Mokoena reportedly received yellow cards in two prior group matches, which should have led to a suspension for the subsequent game against Lesotho. His participation in that match could be a breach of FIFA regulations regarding player eligibility.

If FIFA confirms this violation, South Africa may face sanctions, including the forfeiture of points from the Lesotho match.
