Victor Boniface’s proposed transfer to AC Milan has collapsed after medical tests revealed concerns about his right knee, forcing the Italian club to abandon a €29 million agreement with Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old Nigerian striker spent 48 hours in Milan to complete the deal, which included a €5 million loan fee and €24 million buy option.
However, the medical examinations flagged long-term risks linked to Boniface’s right knee, which previously undergone two anterior cruciate ligament surgeries.

The tests also raised concerns about recurring muscular injuries, prompting Milan’s hierarchy to terminate negotiations.
Consequently, Boniface returned to Germany and rejoined Bayer Leverkusen, where his contract remains valid until 2028.
Meanwhile, the forward reacted online with frustration, posting a sarcastic comment on Instagram directed at critics who questioned his fitness and professionalism.
Therefore, AC Milan has shifted its attention to alternative striking options. Reports have suggested Sporting Lisbon’s Conrad Harder and Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic as leading targets.
