The Rivers State Government has praised the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) for its continued influence in strengthening social cohesion, moral values, and community development across the state.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara described the church as a dependable partner in governance and public progress.
Fubara delivered the commendation yesterday, during a thanksgiving service held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Rumuepirikom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The service formed part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the Diocese of Niger Delta North and the first session of its 11th Synod.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, the governor highlighted the Anglican Church’s role in shaping moral discipline and promoting peaceful coexistence within communities.

He stressed that the church continues to play a meaningful role beyond spiritual guidance, contributing actively to social stability and development across the state.
The governor also outlined key areas where the Church has made notable impact, including education and youth development, healthcare support, and welfare interventions that strengthen families and vulnerable groups.

Speaking on the Synod theme, “Kingdom Advancement: The Priority of Every Believer”, Fubara described the message as timely, noting its relevance to current social and economic realities.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive state where people of all faiths and backgrounds can thrive and contribute meaningfully to development.
He also encouraged the Christian community to continue praying for sustained peace, stability, and progress in Rivers State and across Nigeria.
Delivering the sermon titled “Kingdom Investment and Internal Rewards,” Rt. Rev’d Joseph Olushola of the Diocese of Ijesa North-East called on worshippers to embrace purposeful living and faithful stewardship.
