The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has appointed several prominent figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry to its campaign council ahead of its planned inauguration.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Nollywood actresses Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, as well as Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, are among the entertainers listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council.
The names were contained in the full membership list released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The campaign council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the list, Toke Benson-Awoyinka is set to head the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate as its Director, while Kosoko will serve as Co-Director.

Badmus was named Deputy Director, with Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, serving as Secretary. Dare Olateju was also listed as the Assistant Secretary of the directorate.
The list includes several other well-known names from the Yoruba film industry.
They include veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri and Tayo Sobola.
The Fuji music industry also has a strong presence in the directorate, with Pasuma, Obesere and Ayuba listed alongside Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika, Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa, and singer Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor.
The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate is one of the various directorates created under the APC Lagos State Campaign Council.
The wider campaign council has Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Chairman, while former Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat is listed as Deputy Chairman.

The development comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the official campaign season already underway.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while the governorship and State House of Assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.
The official campaign period for the presidential and National Assembly elections began on August 19, 2026. Campaigns for governorship and State House of Assembly elections commenced on September 9, 2026, meaning the campaign period for the Lagos governorship election is already in progress.
