Nigerian singer Davido has revealed that he once feared losing his voice permanently while trying to meet the demands of his music career.
The Nigerian music star spoke during an interview on iheart radio that he struggled with a shaky voice for about five to six years, a situation that left him worried about his ability to continue performing and fulfil his professional commitments.
According to Davido, the concern became more serious because he had an existing contract with Sony that he needed to honour.

He said his voice eventually returned to normal about four years ago, but the experience made him take steps to protect it.

Davido also revealed that the condition may have been linked partly to his family, noting that members of his family have similar cracked voices.
The singer added that he had to reduce his alcohol intake as part of efforts to protect his voice.
“I almost lost my voice. I was scared because I had to fulfill my Sony contract. For 5–6 years, my voice was shaky and I felt like I was losing it. It returned to normal 4 years ago. My whole family has the same cracked voice, but I had to reduce my drinking,” Davido said.
