Nollywood film maker Funke Akindele’s new cinema film, Behind The Scenes, has crossed the ₦1bn mark at the Nigerian box office.
The movie has now earned about ₦1.1bn in cinemas, placing it among the top-earning Nollywood films ever released in the country.
Film distributors confirmed that the movie broke several box office records across West Africa.

It became the fastest film in the region to reach ₦1bn and also posted the biggest Boxing Day sales so far, bringing in ₦129.5m on that day alone.
The film is also the highest-grossing cinema title of 2025 at the moment and continues to perform strongly weeks after its release.
This latest success adds to Akindele’s strong record at the box office, as she has now crossed the ₦1bn mark with three different cinema projects.
She is also credited as the producer behind the top-earning Nollywood releases so far.
Earlier reports showed that Behind The Scenes made more than ₦500m in just 12 days.
The movie had special advance screenings on December 10 and 11 before opening fully in cinemas on December 12, where it went on to enjoy one of the biggest opening weekends of the year.
The story of the film centres on the burden placed on working people who support extended family members, often called black tax.
This theme has connected with many viewers, helping the film draw large crowds to cinemas.
Scarlet Gomez plays the lead role, with Funke Akindele also featuring in the cast. Others in the film include Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uche Montana, Uzor Arukwe, Ini Dima-Okojie, Adebowale ‘Mr Macaroni’, Ibrahim Chatta, Kamo State and reality TV stars Handi and Wanni Danbaki, among others.
