Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a sensational performance as he powered the Oklahoma City Thunder to a dramatic 141-135 double-overtime win over the Indiana Pacers.
Although the Thunder looked tired after another long battle, the reigning MVP refused to slow down.
The Canadian superstar posted a career-high 55 points, while also adding eight rebounds and five assists. Moreover, he saved his best for the biggest moments, scoring nine points in the second overtime to seal another gritty victory.
Even though the Thunder were dealing with fatigue from their opening-night marathon, they again embraced the moment. Because of his leadership, the defending champions showed the focus required to start strong in a long NBA season.
Gilgeous-Alexander later praised the team’s mentality, noting that every game matters, especially early in the campaign.
Thunder make history as injury-hit Pacers struggle
Remarkably, the Thunder became the first team ever to play double overtime in their first two games of a season. Consequently, fans are already calling them the league’s most entertaining team.

Indiana, however, faced huge challenges. Since star guard Tyrese Haliburton remains out with a torn Achilles, the Pacers entered short-handed. Furthermore, they lost Andrew Nembhard to a painful shoulder injury in the second quarter, which increased their struggles.
While the night centered around Gilgeous-Alexander’s brilliance, the league was also shaken. Earlier on Thursday, news broke about an FBI investigation into illegal sports betting and a poker ring linked to organised crime. Nevertheless, the drama off the court did little to disrupt Oklahoma City’s desire to win.
Elsewhere, Stephen Curry once again lit up the scoreboard. Because the Warriors needed every bit of his magic, he dropped 42 points in a 137-131 overtime win over the Denver Nuggets. And although the night started with controversy, it ended with pure basketball fireworks across the league.
Ultimately, SGA’s heroic display showed that the Thunder remain fearless champions ready to defend their crown with fire and flair.
