It has been close to five years since working from home became such a norm (for quite apparent reasons) and organisations are still vying to get a glare from your screen on Monday at 9 AM. Sometimes it requires miming each other, simply because how unique can one get regarding work-related conversations? The latest one we get from Google: the company has introduced huddles. Exactly, recognisable to current Slack users, Google will henceforth have the identical tool labelled with a name similar to its opponent.

Well, how is the huddle going to be on Google Chat? In other words, huddles are supposed to be similar to the kind of informal discussions people might have when theyāre walking past their colleaguesā workplace or if they happen to be nearby and waiting for a meeting to start. Rather than booking an audio or video call you just click the phone icon in a chat and select āStart a huddle.ā This will make a slot in the chat where you can easily converse. There is the usual option to switch it to a video call during the meeting as well.
Once more, you would be right at home if you have used lower-altitude apps such as Discord or Slack before. It will be within the one-on-one and group conversations, and spaces. If you have a rapid release domain you should get it by December 20 and if you have a scheduled release domain you will be able to see huddles from January 6.
