Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the highest level of security for the lives and properties of the state’s residents.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, stated that Aiyedatiwa made this assertion while hosting military personnel led by Major General Obinna Godwin Onubogu, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, in his office in Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized his administration’s efforts to ensure optimal security by supporting conventional security agencies, including the Army.

He said, “Thank you for stopping by, and we appreciate your men for providing security to the people. We have been enjoying that support from your men in Ondo State.

“We face some peculiar situations in the state, especially at our borders with Edo and other areas. The Army has always been there to support us whenever there are kidnappings because the police alone cannot handle the job.

“We will continue to encourage and support the synergy between the military, police, civil defense, and our own homegrown security outfit, Amotekun Corps, to enhance our security and protect our borders.”

He urged the military and other security agencies to ensure maximum security during the November 16 gubernatorial election in the state.

Earlier, Major General Obinna Godwin Onubogu mentioned that he took over the division on March 13, which covers seven states: Kwara, Kogi, Edo, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo.

“I am here to see my troops across the length and breadth of Ondo State to encourage them and assess the security situation in the state. I have been well briefed by the Brigade Commander and other security agencies,” he said.
