South African artiste Tyla emerged winner of the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, edging out Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr in the highly competitive category.
She secured the honour with her track Push 2 Start, defeating Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope & Love.

The category, created to promote African music on the global stage, once again had strong Nigerian representation, with Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr making the final shortlist.
This marks Tyla’s second win in the category since its introduction in 2024, when she became the first recipient after winning with Water.
