As at the time of this publication, Tunde Onakoya, a Nigerian chess master has surpassed 24 hours in pursuit of a Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon at Times Square in New York.
Earlier, News Round The Clock (NRTC) reported that the renowned chess master who is a native of Nigeria was looking to create history across the globe.
Taking to his Twitter (otherwise known as X account) on Wednesday, April 17, Tunde Onakoya wrote, “It’s game time”. Since the commencement of the contest, the chess master has been able to surpass 24 hours.

Interestingly, he has been able to go undefeated in all the contest he has featured in the last 24 hours. Additionally, he defeated New Yorkās National Chess Master, Shawn Martinez.
An update about his latest achievement on Twitter page reads,
“It’s officially 1 full day of playing continous chess in our attempt to break the
@GWR for longest chess marathon.
@CoachShawnMar and I have played 60 games and the fatique is naturally setting in. But one thing we will not do is stop.
We will raise a million dollars and bring the gift of chess to children across the world. Your support is needed now, more than ever.”
