The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Didi Walson-Jack, has charged five newly appointed Permanent Secretaries to provide purposeful leadership and accelerate key reforms, particularly the push for a fully paperless Civil Service.

Walson-Jack delivered the charge in her keynote address at a two-day Induction Programme held in Abuja.

She stated that the new appointees assume office at a pivotal moment, entrusted with the strategic responsibility of steering the machinery of government to achieve the nation’s goals.

The HCSF congratulated the five new leaders, describing their appointment as a testament to merit and distinguished service.

She gave them an expansive mandate, emphasising that they are: custodians of institutional memory, architects of system stability, catalysts of reform, and guardians of ethical Public Service values.

Walson-Jack underscored the urgency of digital transformation, calling it a bedrock of transparency and modern governance.

She urged the Permanent Secretaries to lead the transition to a fully paperless service with firmness and by example.

She admonished them to uphold the highest ethical standards, champion digital transformation, and “deliver results that positively touch the lives of citizens.”

The newly appointed leaders, who will oversee critical Service-wide Offices, are: Abdulkarim Ibrahim, John Ezeamama, Abdul Garba, Ishiyaku Mohammed and Ukaire Chigbowu.

Earlier, the former Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Fatima Mahmood, welcomed the appointees, stating that the Civil Service is counting on their leadership to accelerate digitalisation and entrench lasting reforms.

She noted that the induction marks the formal commencement of a critical phase of national responsibility demanding clarity, courage, discipline, and commitment.

The intensive two-day programme featured engagements with leading policy experts and seasoned administrators, providing the new Permanent Secretaries with strategic frameworks for excelling in their roles as leaders of policy formulation and drivers of the nation’s key reform initiatives.
