Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has responded to criticism over her frequent public appearances with her husband, Femi Atere, insisting that their relationship reflects the true meaning of marriage.
The entrepreneur addressed the issue in a video shared on her social media page after a social media user questioned why her husband was always by her side, suggesting he did not have “a life of his own.”
In response, Veekee said she and her husband had intentionally chosen to build their lives together, stressing that marriage is about unity rather than living separate lives.
“Yes, my husband does not have a life of his own. His life is my life, the same way I don’t have a life of my own.
“My life is his life. He is me and I am him. Together we are like padlock and key,” she said.

The fashion designer also argued that those criticising their relationship did not understand the essence of marriage.
“When you marry your own, separate him. When you marry your own, remove him from your life and keep him somewhere else.
“You don’t know what marriage is. His life is mine, my life is his. Everything he is, is mine,” she added.

According to her, marriage involves sharing every aspect of life with one’s partner rather than maintaining separate lifestyles.
Veekee further stated that she and her husband would continue attending public events together despite the criticism.
“You’ve not seen anything. You will see me and my husband anywhere possible, everywhere possible, you will see us,” she said.
She ended the video on a light-hearted note, playfully describing her husband as her “personal handbag” while sharing clips of the couple together.
