Bendel Insurance Football Club has suspended head coach Greg Ikhenoba with immediate effect after a poor start to the 2025/26 NPFL season, appointing assistant Baldwin Bazuaye as interim manager. This move follows a 1-0 home loss to Nasarawa United.
The Edo State Sports Commission approved the suspension on October 6, 2025. Officials cited disappointing results as Bendel sits 16th after seven matches, with one win.
Ikhenoba took charge in mid-2023. He guided the team to eighth last season. However, defensive errors have plagued this season.

The club conceded in five straight games. A 2-1 win over Abia Warriors promised brief hope yet draws and losses mounted.
Commission chairman Amadin Desmond Enabulele acted immediately. He emphasised revitalization. The decision came days after the Nasarawa defeat at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Bazuaye, 56, steps up now. He previously coached Lobi Stars to promotion. His style favours youth and pressing.
The new interim boss must now harness forwards like Uche Onwuansoanya and other bright players to deliver results. Mid-table safety beckons while failure could prompt foreign hires.
