“Homecoming soon“, Nigerian chess master, Tunde Onakoya wrote on his X (otherwise known as Twitter) after achieving his Guinness World Record objective.
Tunde Onakoya’s aim and objective to become the first person to play the game of chess for 60 hours nonstop was achieved on Saturday, April 20.
Onakoya, who is a child education advocate, bettered the Guinness World Record of over 56 hours in an effort to raise funds for underprivileged children.
“Tunde Onakoya. The man who gives little children big caps to wear,” the 29-year-old Chess master wrote on his official X account. He continued, “now the world sees them through your light.”
In conclusion, he wrote after achieving his objective, “Homecoming soon”
The 29-year-old chess maestro is hoping to raise $1 million (ā¬937,500) for children’s education in Africa.
The record attempt began on Wednesday and continued for 60 hours, through to 12:40 a.m. on Saturday.
Tunde is the founder of Chess in Slums Africa. The organization aims to support the education of at least 1 million children in slums across the continent.
